Zeerust Show this weekend! 03-14-2009

Catch me at the Zeerust Show this coming weekend Saturday! I'm not too sure what I'll be doing there other than pleading for donations but who knows, we might actually get around to a little flying as well.

Don't be scared to drop by and say hello!

B-Model Sylphide update.

Hia everyone,

Ok so most of you know I've been dealing with a few issues on the helis with motors running lean in the midrange etc. Most of the issues have been resolved although the problem still persists ever so slightly on specifically the B Sylphide. We recently also replaced all the bearings on the model hoping it would solve the problem although it evidently didn't, we couldn't source the one thrust bearing on the bottom of the mainshaft however and I finally layed my paws on one!

The bearing was replaced last night during a very problem free one and a half hour operation. Getting to this bearing means dropping fuel tanks, removing fan shrouds, getting the entire main shaft loose. Needless to say by no means an easy task ever! Alas this time around I can with certainty say it went down without any problems, yay! I won't put any money on it as the old bearing looks fine in all respects but lets hope yes? Maybe this was indeed the one giving us all the trouble all along. The wobble is very minimised right now and only visible when switching over from normal to idle up flight modes, negligable but still annoying and not eye pleasing at all.

This coming Sunday we hope to do a little constructive comparison between the K&S FAI paddles and the Rotortech FAI paddles on the Sylphides. I'm still working on a plan but we'll probably do a series of test around roll and flip rates and stability at high speed. We know they both work well for hovering. More to come!
